Sunaina Rathore, founder & owner of Sunaina Dance Academy, sparked her dance journey at the age of 3. With the support of her parents, she started to learn kathak while creating her own choreography at a young age.
Sunaina learned Kathak from Shri Rajendra Srivastava, a disciple of Pt. Birju Maharajji.
Sunaina continued to grow, winning various dance competitions at the District & State levels in India. She prospered in Kathak, as she has her Masters's Degree (Prabhakar Degree) in Kathak from Prayag Kala Sangeet Samiti Allahabad and a diploma in Tabla as well.
An accomplished Kathak Dancer, her emphasis on perfection and complete mastery of the technical aspect of Kathak drives her passion for this dance style. She quotes, "Subtle 'Abhinaya' (acting), lithe, and elegant footwork with graceful movements are some of the fine hallmarks of performances".
Sunaina currently teaches Kathak & Semi-Classical dance in the Ashburn, VA area, while formerly also teaching Bollywood as well. Her mark in Northern Virginia has prompted her with invitations to be part of judging panels at several dance competitions in the area, including the Heritage Festival & KAGW.
Her hobbies include painting, singing, and poetry. Outside of her dance academy, she has a husband and 2 children.
